Nyepi Day or Silent Day for New Caka year 1952
For you who will travel to Bali and need to make a great travel plan, the Hindu People in Bali has a unique celebration for New Caka Year with a silent or no activities. There are series of ceremony carried out prior to Silent Day, one day prior will be a procession of Ogoh parade. It is symbolic of party, fun and amusement. A scarification ceremony by offering to world element of power those are evil spirit, human being and Gods. The ceremony called ”Pangerupukan”, the purpose of the ceremony is to harmonize all power element in order the Silent Day will run without any obstacle.
What you can't do on Silent Day
Once you are in Bali and stay in the hotel, you will not be allowed to go out from the hotel. Most of the hotel will minimize the lighting, the hotel will still provide a services for your food and beverages during your stay in the hotel.
